[GLOBAL ECONOMIC TIMES] The Daejeon Western Office of Education announced that on October 17, it conducted an ecological conversion education student camp at the Daejeon National Forest Center for 56 students from Giseong Middle School and Daejeon Won Shinheung Middle School.
The ecological transition education student camp aims to live a sustainable life where humans and nature coexist and to spread awareness of student-led ecological transition education practices. Following the camp in the first half of the first semester, the camp was operated in the second half of the second semester.
This camp held programs such as Understanding Ecological Transformation Education (activity to understand the value of ecological transformation education), Green Beginner ‘Resallim’ (outdoor forest interpretation program), Put Your Heart, Put the Forest (craft activities using natural materials). Students participated in outdoor forest experiences and interpretive programs, learned the meaning of carbon neutrality and the virtuous cycle system of forests, and practiced ecological conversion education and carbon neutral culture by making crafts using natural materials found throughout Daejeon Forest Center. I had time to experience it firsthand.
A student who participated in the camp said, “It was a time to think about the importance of the forest, and each of the educational contents was impressive and meaningful.” “The forest experience and forest explanation were fun, and I hope more students can experience this good program.” He expressed his thoughts.
“We hope that the students who participated in this camp will grow into future ecological leaders,” said Kwak Soong-hoon, head of the secondary education department at the Daejeon Western Office of Education. “We actively support the establishment of a carbon-neutral culture so that ecological conversion education can be activated in schools.” “I will do it,” he said.
