[Global Economic Times] The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Culture and Arts Promotion Agency operates the ‘Village Care ‘Senior Choir Therapy’ education program, the second program that realizes customized culture and arts education for each life cycle.
This program was prepared as a follow-up to ‘Our Monsters Inc.’, ‘Vacation care through art’, which was operated for school-age children from July 29 to August 4.
‘Senior Choir Therapy’, which cares for the village through art, was designed to provide seniors with a rich artistic experience through courageous challenges and diverse educational programs through choir, and to promote emotional stability and healthy and energetic changes in life through music.
The training schedule includes a total of 12 training sessions, including a performance presentation, held once a week at the Arts Center from September 24th to December 7th. However, the last training session will be held together with viewing a special performance.
The training target is 65 years of age or older and plans to recruit 25 trainees (10 on waiting list), and tuition is free.
In particular, at the performance presentation in November, we plan to provide trainees with an opportunity to experience the stage in a professional space by planning a rich and special program with a video screening of ‘The Story of an Old Couple’ on screen at the Arts Center’s main theater.
Recruitment of trainees will be from August 29th to September 6th, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Jeju Culture and Arts Promotion Agency website and by phone.
Director Kim Tae-gwan said, “By practicing customized culture and arts education, we have provided seniors with opportunities to experience culture and arts in their daily lives, while at the same time strengthening the nature of art healing (therapy).” He added, “Through this education program, we have promoted emotional stability and a sense of accomplishment.” “I hope you enjoy the experience together.”
