Dr. Lee Jung-min, renowned for his significant contributions to Korea's chemical industry, particularly in the development of the bleach 'Oxyclean,' passed away on November 2 at the age of 76.

Born in Seoul in 1948, Dr. Lee graduated from Kyung Hee University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and dedicated his career to advancing Korea's chemical industry. During his tenure at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, he was instrumental in commercializing 24 products. His most notable achievement was his involvement in the development of the bleach 'Oxyclean.'

Introduced to the market in 1984, Oxyclean was hailed for successfully localizing the production of bleach, which had previously been entirely imported.

Dr. Lee also played a pivotal role in domesticating zeolite, a crucial component in eco-friendly detergents. His efforts in this area led to the export of zeolite to Japan, and he was honored with the National Order of the Seokryu Medal in 1994 for his contributions to the localization of zeolite.

Dr. Lee's passing is a significant loss to the Korean chemical industry. His legacy of innovation and dedication to developing eco-friendly products will continue to inspire future generations of scientists and engineers.
