Uncovering 9 administrative achievement cases that deliver tangible impact from citizens' perspectives

Daejeon City held the "2026 Second Half Proactive Administration Best Practices Contest" on the afternoon of the 12th, ultimately selecting 9 outstanding cases driven proactively from citizens' perspectives.

This contest was organized to discover and share cases that achieved problem-solving and administrative innovation based on creative ideas and the improvement of regulations and practices. The goal is to spread a culture of proactive administration across the public service sector and implement on-site the "efficacious administration experienced by citizens," which is pursued by the 9th popular election term.

Daejeon City has held these regular contests biannually since 2022, and starting this year, expanded the participation scope from just city and district offices to include public corporations and public agencies as well. As a result, a total of 13 cases were submitted, and 11 cases that passed the preliminary screening advanced to the finals for presentations.

Notably, this year added fairness and meaning to the contest as members of the Proactive Administration Committee and the Proactive Administration Citizen Monitoring Group participated in the evaluation, assessing policies from the citizens' eye level.

As a result of the evaluation, a total of 9 outstanding cases were selected—1 Grand Prize, 2 Excellence Prizes, 4 Encouragement Prizes, and 2 Innovation Prizes. The city plans to actively publicize these winning cases so they can be spread nationwide.

The 9 selected best practices are:

-Grand Prize: In-house development and free distribution of the "AI Safety Assistant App" (Daejeon Urban Corporation Manager, Seo Yun-sik)
-Excellence Prize: Local tax reduction notification "Talk" to protect taxpayers' rights "Smart" (Dong-gu Tax Division, Tax Grade 6, Kim Myung-jong)

Lee Gil-joo, Daejeon City's AI Innovation Officer, stated, "To respond to rapidly changing environments and complex administrative demands, problem-solving-oriented administrative services are becoming increasingly important." He added, "We hope that the cases discovered through this contest will bring practical changes to citizens' lives in line with the 9th popular election's municipal direction, 'Our Daejeon Together, All-Happy Citizens.'"
