Sejong Special Self-Governing City Mayor Cho Sang-ho has ordered each department to investigate administrative demands, discover AI utilization tasks that will drive business innovation and budget savings, and materialize them as next year's demonstration projects.
During a executive meeting held at the Jiphyun Room of City Hall on the 20th, Mayor Cho said, "If each bureau and division proposes tasks to be improved through artificial intelligence, the AI Digital Officer should prepare concrete application plans." He added, "Let's first select 3 to 5 tasks, designate persons in charge, and push forward so that they can be utilized in actual work."
At the same time, he requested that specific plans leading to improved work efficiency and budget savings be prepared by utilizing the capabilities of external experts when necessary.
At the meeting that day, Park Min-gyu, an official from the AI Digital Officer division, gave a presentation to senior public officials on the theme of "Internalizing AI Administrative Leadership," explaining ways to utilize artificial intelligence in administration.
Regarding this, Mayor Cho requested, "Each bureau and division head should actively introduce artificial intelligence into actual work and encourage employees to use it, while placing top priority on accuracy by thoroughly reviewing whether there are errors in the results."
Along with this, Mayor Cho expressed condolences over the recent death of a firefighter who passed away at a factory fire site in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, and requested that opinions from frontline firefighters be gathered and submitted to the National Fire Agency to prevent similar accidents.
Mayor Cho stated, "We must accept heavily the reality that reflection and pledges are repeated every time there is a tragic sacrifice." He added, "We will actively communicate so that the difficulties faced by frontline personnel within our jurisdiction can be reflected in the government's recurrence prevention measures."
In addition, he emphasized adhering to strict and fair performance evaluation principles so that employees' efforts, dedication, and work performance lead to justified evaluation and compensation.
Mayor Cho urged, "If employees who work hard are not properly recognized, organizational trust can be shaken." He asked, "Each bureau and division head should closely examine the efforts and performance of employees to evaluate them fairly so that anyone can understand and accept it."
