- Advancing Daejeon-Style MICE Content and Solidifying Public-Private Cooperative Execution Strategies
Daejeon City is stepping up efforts to discover and commercialize projects linking the region's tourism, cultural, and scientific resources to enhance the competitiveness of the Daejeon-style MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry and increase participant stays and local consumption.
On the 14th, Daejeon City, together with the Daejeon Tourism Organization, held the "2026 3rd Members' Round Table" at the Old Site Folk Museum (Yetteo Folk Museum), a Daejeon unique venue, with some 50 members and stakeholders of the Daejeon-Chungcheong MICE Alliance in attendance.
Under the theme "How Do We Make It?", this event was designed to materialize roles by sector, cooperative plans, and step-by-step execution strategies to connect the Daejeon-style MICE content derived from the preceding 1st and 2nd round tables into actual projects.
At the 1st round table held in June under the theme "Who We Are?", the city established the identity and differentiation direction of the Daejeon MICE industry. In September, the 2nd round table focused on "What Do We Create?" to flesh out representative content by sector and participant experience.
This 3rd session materialized business models targeting ideas that leverage local characteristics, such as bakery tourism theme maps and bakery tours, Gapcheon mission-based tourism, science and healing experiences, local tourism stamp tours, and the development of signature goods.
In particular, participants discussed ways to link day and night tourism content with lodging and local commercial districts so that MICE participants can stay longer in Daejeon for tourism and consumption even after events conclude. They also devised cooperative systems and execution tasks utilizing the facilities, services, and expertise possessed by member organizations.
Furthermore, attendees explored ways to integrate the region's unique resources—such as traditional culture and healing—with MICE events by directly experiencing the exhibition and experiential content of the Old Site Folk Museum, a Daejeon unique venue.
An official from Daejeon City stated, "To extend the length of stay for MICE participants, it is crucial to create diverse tourism content that can be enjoyed in Daejeon alongside the events themselves. We will link tourism content encompassing Daejeon's day and night with MICE to build a differentiated, extended-stay MICE model unique to Daejeon."
Meanwhile, Daejeon City plans to synthesize the execution tasks derived from this round table to formulate the "Daejeon-Chungcheong MICE Cooperative Branding Execution Strategy" this coming December, and continuously expand public-private cooperation to revitalize the regional MICE industry and extended-stay tourism moving forward.
