CGV announced on the 13th that it has revealed its October lineup for technology special screening halls, featuring a diverse array of content including films, animations, classic concert live streams, and K-POP concerts.
On the 14th, three titles—"Guardian of the Electronic Game," "Whale Fall," and "Street Fighter"—will premiere in tech special halls.
Based on Gaspahd's webtoon of the same name, "Guardian of the Electronic Game" will be screened in SCREENX, 4DX, and integrated halls. SCREENX expands the in-game world across the front and side screens, while 4DX implements the movements of Patch and the guardians through motion effects.
Releasing on the same day, "Whale Fall" depicts the survival story of a protagonist trapped inside the belly of a 60-ton sperm whale. The 4DX version applies motion, water, and vibration effects synchronized with the whale's movements, alongside distinct scent effects tailored to the whale's stomach and ocean scenes.
The live-action adaptation of the classic fighting game, "Street Fighter," will also be screened in 4DX. Character-specific actions, such as Ryu’s Hadoken, Blanka’s charge, and Akuma’s entrance, are enhanced with heat, wind, motion, and fog effects.
On the 17th, the classical concert live film "Going Home Project: Ravel & Shostakovich in Cinema" will be presented in Dolby Atmos.
The work captures the 2025 Seoul Arts Center "Going Home Project" performance featuring musicians such as Yekwon Sunwoo (Note: translated from Son Yeol-eum), Svetlin Roussev, and Sung-hyun Cho. It delivers a three-dimensional acoustic experience of a 100-member orchestra performance.
On the 21st, "2PM Concert 'The Return' in Cinema" will be screened across SCREENX, 4DX, and integrated halls. Capturing 2PM's full-group reunion performance, SCREENX expands the concert scenes across three screens, while 4DX applies motion and shaker effects synced to the members' movements and the beats of the music.
On the 28th, "Attack on Titan: Crimson Bow and Arrow" will be brought to tech special halls including SCREENX and 4DX, marking a theatrical re-release 11 years after its initial Korean release in 2015.
SCREENX expands the landscapes of plains and forests, the appearance of the titans, and the Survey Corps' omni-directional mobility gear action onto the front and side screens. Meanwhile, 4DX expresses the mobility gear's movements and the titans' footsteps through motion, air shots, vibrations, and heat effects.
"In October, we are presenting a diverse range of contents in our tech special halls, spanning from action and animation to classical music and K-POP live concert footage," said Jang Ji-yeon, Head of the Content Operations Team at CGV.
