Five teams compete with original songs capturing Chungnam's nature, culture, and local stories... Two top winners selected

Expectations rise for regional music content activation through follow-up support including sound source production, video content creation, and performance opportunities

The Chungnam Creative Content Agency (Director Kim Yeon, hereinafter referred to as the Agency) announced that it successfully held the finals for the "2026 Chungnam Songwriting Contest: LOCAL PLAY" on October 8 at the performance hall of the Chungnam Music Creation Station, selecting the final two winning teams.

This contest was designed to express Chungnam's identity and regional charm through creative music and to expand local stories into new musical content.

The final stage featured five teams that passed the initial documentary evaluation, showcasing original songs filled with their own individuality and musical colors. Spanning genres such as rock and ballad, the creative pieces incorporated renowned attractions and specialties from all over Chungnam—including Cheonan, Asan, Yesan apples, Gongju chestnuts, Nonsan strawberries, and Taean Anmyeondo—into their lyrics and melodies.

The Grand Prize went to "Gryeo, Yeogiyeo" (tentative translation: "Yeah, Right Here"), a folk song capturing the relaxed and affectionate lifestyle of Chungnam, which received favorable reviews for expressing regional charm in an emotional yet public-friendly manner. The Gold Prize was awarded to "Chungnam-e Wassyu" (tentative translation: "Welcome to Chungnam"), which conveyed the unique warmth of the region through Chungnam's natural scenery and daily landscapes.

The Agency plans to provide continuous follow-up support so that the selected winning works do not stop at their contest achievements, but are actually produced and distributed as real music content. Key support details include sound source and music video production and distribution, as well as providing performance opportunities to enhance the completeness of the creative songs, expanding touchpoints for them to officially meet the public in early December this year.

Director Kim Yeon stated, "This contest served as a meaningful occasion to express Chungnam's identity and charm through music and showcase local stories as new content. We will continue our efforts to ensure that creative music content can spread Chungnam's charm nationwide and broaden new possibilities for regional content."
