The 2025 Halal Cosmetics Certification Training, supported by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, has commenced. The Korea Halal Institute, the implementing organization, opened the 2025 Halal Cosmetics training course on its online education website, www.eduhalal.kr, on May 19th and has begun operating the training for professionals in the cosmetics industry.

The curriculum consists of eight subjects and a total of 16 video lectures, including "Halal Cosmetics Standards," "Halal Certification Procedures by Institutions (Korea Muslim Federation, Korea Halal Authority, International Halal Certification Support Center, Indonesia BPJPH, Malaysia JAKIM)," "Global Halal Cosmetics Market Trends," and "Entry Strategies for Korean Cosmetics into the Islamic Market." The learning method is video-on-demand, allowing learners to select and study video lectures for desired subjects at their preferred time, with a total learning time of 8 hours.

This training features experts representing various fields, including Noh Jang-seo, President of the Korea Halal Institute; Jang Geon, President of the Korea Halal Industry Association; Kang Na-yeon, Deputy Manager of the Korea Halal Industry Promotion Agency; Kim Won-sook, CEO of the Korea Halal Certification Authority; Kim Yong-ho, Team Leader of the International Halal Certification Support Center; and Kim Hee-jin, Manager of INNI Halal Korea.

According to the Korea Halal Institute, Korea's cosmetics exports to 57 Islamic countries in the previous year, 2024, reached a record high of $919 million. This figure represents a 51% increase compared to the export volume of $2023. The proportion of cosmetics in Korea's total exports also expanded from 7.2% in 2023 to 9.0% in 2024. This is an all-time high.

Noh Jang-seo, President of the Korea Halal Institute, explained, "Exports to major Islamic countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia significantly increased, with a particularly notable increase in exports to the Middle East region." President Noh further predicted, "As Indonesia, a major export destination for Korean cosmetics and the largest economy among Islamic countries, is set to implement mandatory halal certification for cosmetics starting next October, the participation rate for this year's Halal Cosmetics Certification Training will be very high."

The 2025 Halal Cosmetics Certification Training program is part of the Halal Cosmetics Certification Support project, supported by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. In addition to the training program, other initiatives being promoted include 'On-site Company Consulting,' 'Overseas Expert Invitation Webinars,' and 'Online Consultation Sessions with Halal Certification Bodies.'
