DAEGU — Sayuwon, the renowned private botanical garden and architectural site in Daegu, announced it will host the "2026 Sayuwon Plum Blossom Festival" from March 5 to 31. Spanning approximately 150,000 pyeong along the ridges of Palgongsan Mountain, the festival aims to offer a multi-sensory spring experience that goes beyond simple sightseeing.
The garden features four distinct varieties of plum blossoms: White Plum, Red Plum, Black Dragon Plum, and Cloud Dragon Plum. Because these varieties bloom at slightly different times, visitors can enjoy a shifting narrative of colors and scents throughout the entire month.
To enhance the experience, all visitors will receive a "Plum Blossom Path Postcard" that identifies key colonies and the best photo spots. A special program titled "Maewha Walking Tour" will also be available, where professional guides explain the deep architectural and natural philosophies behind major sites such as Liyuan (瀏園), Maesan-cheopcheop (梅山疊疊), and Gwanmae-jeong (觀梅亭). The journey concludes at the hilltop cafe, Gaga-binbin, with seasonal treats.
For those seeking inner peace, the "Scent of Contemplation" program offers a guided meditation session where participants can blend their own aroma essences to create a personalized scent to take home.
The cultural highlight of the festival takes place at the outdoor amphitheater, Symphony 6. The "Maewha Gugak All-day Package" features performances by pansori singer Jeong Eun-hye on March 14, followed by gayageum player Lee Ji-young on March 28. These packages include a traditional Korean meal at Mongmong-mabang and premium quince tea.
Additionally, the onsite cafes, Gaga-binbin and Mongmong-chabang, will serve a limited-edition "Apple Plum Tea," a vibrant red beverage inspired by the crimson plum blossoms.
"This festival is designed to be a complete sensory journey—walking, listening, and remembering the spring through fragrance," a representative from Sayuwon stated.
Detailed information and reservations for the 2026 Sayuwon Plum Blossom Festival are available on the official Sayuwon website.
