Daejeon, South Korea – Kim Dong-mun, a former Olympic gold medalist, has been elected as the new president of the Badminton Association of Korea. The election, which had been postponed due to a legal dispute, took place on [Date] in Daejeon.

Kim secured 64 votes out of 155 cast, defeating incumbent president Kim Taek-kyu who received 43 votes. Three other candidates also participated in the election.

Kim's victory comes after a tumultuous period for the association, marked by allegations of mismanagement and financial irregularities. The outgoing president, Kim Taek-kyu, faced accusations of embezzlement and breach of trust, leading to a legal battle that delayed the election.

A court had initially granted a temporary injunction to halt the election process, but the decision was later overturned. Kim Taek-kyu was allowed to run as a candidate but was unable to regain his position.

Kim Dong-mun, a renowned figure in Korean badminton, won gold medals in the mixed doubles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and in the men's doubles at the 2004 Athens Olympics. During his campaign, he pledged to improve the working conditions of coaches, promote badminton at the grassroots level, and enhance the rights of national team athletes.
