Russia emphasized on the 28th (local time) that while it does not reject a summit between President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, such a meeting must yield tangible results.

According to TASS news agency, Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov stated in an interview with state media, "Russia never rejects contact between President Putin and Zelenskyy, but such a meeting must be well-prepared and focused on achieving concrete, positive outcomes."

He added, "President Putin has repeatedly stated that if President Zelenskyy is truly ready for such a meeting, he would invite him to Moscow. We will guarantee his safety and the necessary working conditions."

Last September, Putin proposed a summit in Moscow during a press conference in China. However, Zelenskyy rejected the offer and countered by inviting Putin to Kyiv.

Ushakov explained that the issue of a summit was also discussed during phone calls between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. "This is not new to us. It has been discussed several times in calls between Putin and Trump. President Trump specifically suggested that we consider the possibility," he noted.

The possibility of a summit is resurfacing as the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine held trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on the 23rd and 24th to discuss a peace plan drafted by the U.S. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the trilateral negotiations are tentatively scheduled to resume on February 1st.

Regarding Ukraine's claim that two peace treaties would be signed under U.S. mediation, Peskov clarified, "We are not discussing any list of documents yet." He emphasized, "These negotiations deal with very sensitive topics and complex dialogues. Publicly discussing specific details would be detrimental to the process."
