Public-Private Cooperation Council Holds Resident Briefing…Time for Communication and Gathering Provincial Opinions

 

The Daejeon-Chungnam Administrative Integration Public-Private Cooperation Council (Chairpersons Lee Chang-ki, Jung Jae-geun) held a resident briefing session on the 27th at the main conference room of the Cheongyang-gun Social Economy Innovation Town.

The briefing, arranged to share the justification for Daejeon-Chungnam administrative integration with provincial residents and broaden consensus, was attended by around 150 people including Cheongyang-gun Mayor Kim Don-gon, Public-Private Cooperation Council Co-chairperson Lee Chang-ki (Daejeon), Communication Subcommittee Chairperson Yang Gyeong-mo (Provincial Assembly member), local residents, and public officials.

During the briefing, Go Seung-hee, Head of the Social Integration Research Office at the Chungnam Institute, explained the current status of Daejeon-Chungnam administrative integration.

This was followed by a talk concert on topics such as the justification and expected effects of administrative integration, and public discussion methods to gain resident consent.

The talk concert featured Chairpersons Lee Chang-ki and Yang Gyeong-mo, Lee Jin-woo, Chairman of the Cheongyang-gun Veterans Association Council, and Shin In-seok, Chairman of the Cheongyang-gun Saemaul Undong Branch, who offered various opinions regarding administrative integration.

After the talk concert, there was a question-and-answer session with residents. During this session, Chairperson Yang Gyeong-mo stated, "The Daejeon-Chungnam Special Self-Governing Province, which will be born through administrative integration, will combine Daejeon's advanced scientific and technological capabilities with Chungnam's industrial infrastructure to emerge as a hub for Korea's economy and science." He added, "For Cheongyang, we expect to secure momentum for current projects like the food plan and improve residential conditions through better access to medical services."

The city/county resident briefings began in Hongseong-gun on the 23rd and are scheduled to sequentially visit 15 cities and counties across the province until July 8th.

The Public-Private Cooperation Council plans to continue sharing the necessity and expected effects of administrative integration and maintaining communication through city/county resident briefings and various public relations channels.
