SEOUL – The Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) has announced that it will present Kim Yeon-koung, a star player for the Heungkuk Life Insurance Pink Spiders, with a special recognition award for her contributions to the V-League. This is the first time in the history of professional volleyball that a current player who is about to retire has been selected as the recipient of a special recognition award.

Kim, 37, who debuted in the V-League in the 2005-2006 season, has been recognized for her contributions to the league's popularity after returning to Korea following stints in foreign leagues. KOVO officials said they are considering awarding her a special prize in recognition of her contributions to the development and popularity of volleyball.
