Singapore – The LIV Golf League is set to witness a unique and intense competition as four reserve players battle it out for a coveted spot in the Iron Heads GC team at the upcoming LIV Golf Singapore event. This extraordinary playoff comes as a result of a prolonged, unspecified injury to Jinichiro Kozuma, leaving a vacancy in Kevin Na's team roster.

With Kozuma sidelined, Iron Heads GC has been utilizing LIV Golf's reserve pool for the first three tournaments of the 2025 season. However, for the Singapore event, LIV Golf has organized a special 18-hole stroke play playoff featuring John Catlin, Wade Ormsby, Sihwan Kim, and Oli Schniederjans.

Adding a layer of drama to the competition, the playoff will employ a "progressive elimination" format. Players with the lowest scores after 6 and 12 holes will be eliminated, raising the stakes with each passing phase. In the event of ties, extra holes will be played until a clear loser is determined. The final two contenders will then compete over the remaining 6 holes, with a sudden-death playoff in case of a final tie. Crucially, scores will carry over from each stage, ensuring a cumulative and high-pressure contest.

Player Performance:

John Catlin: Yet to make an appearance in a LIV Golf event this season.
Sihwan Kim: Has also not competed in any LIV Golf events this season.
Oli Schniederjans: Finished tied for 30th at LIV Golf Riyadh and placed 42nd at LIV Golf Hong Kong.
Wade Ormsby: Secured a tie for 25th at LIV Golf Riyadh and finished 50th at LIV Golf Adelaide.
The LIV Golf Singapore event marks the fourth tournament of the 2025 season. This playoff not only presents a valuable opportunity for these reserve players to showcase their skills on the LIV Golf stage but also promises to deliver an exciting spectacle for golf enthusiasts.

This type of qualifying event is unusual in professional golf, and adds an interesting layer to the LIV Golf tour.
