Opening at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23, the day before the Chuseok holiday

Chungcheongbuk-do announced that it will open the newly expanded and paved section of National Route 19 between Miwon-ri and Ssang-i-ri in Miwon-myeon, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si, on Wednesday, September 23 at 4:00 PM, following the completion of the construction project.

The "National Route 19 Cheongju Miwon-Dang Section Road Expansion Project" is a 4-lane construction project spanning a total length of 1.88 km. It began in November 2020 and took approximately 6 years to complete, incorporating two roundabouts and one bridge.

A total budget of 32.2 billion KRW was invested into the project, which is being praised for delivering a road balanced in safety, convenience, and efficiency.

An official from Chungbuk Province stated, "The opening of this newly established section will not only significantly enhance transportation convenience for residents of the Miwon area, but also ensure smooth travel from Boeun to Cheongju and Goesan, which is expected to bring positive effects such as revitalizing the local economy and reducing safety accidents."

Given that the previous narrow road environment passing through the town center of Miwon-myeon frequently suffered from traffic congestion and safety hazards, this 4-lane expansion also serves as a long-awaited resolution to a regional community grievance.

Governor Shin Yong-han emphasized, "This project is an achievement accomplished through long-term collaboration with the local community, and we will continue to do our best to improve road infrastructure for the safety of provincial residents and regional development." He added, "Moving forward, we plan to continuously expand road infrastructure to enhance the safety and convenience of local residents and take the lead in balanced regional growth."
