SIHEUNG, GYEONGGI PROVINCE – Siheung City has announced plans to construct a pedestrian bridge connecting the bustling Baegot New City with the popular Wolgot-dong waterfront, a move expected to significantly boost the local economy and improve pedestrian access. The 238-meter bridge, with a budget of 13 billion KRW, promises to shorten the journey between the two areas, making it easier for residents and tourists to explore the region.

Currently, the walk from Baegot New City to Wolgot Station stretches approximately 2 kilometers. The new bridge will cut this distance by nearly half, down to 1.3 kilometers. City officials believe this improved connectivity will encourage more foot traffic to Wolgot-dong, renowned for its vibrant seafood restaurant scene. This influx of visitors is anticipated to revitalize the local commercial district, bringing new opportunities to businesses in the area.

The project is a key part of Siheung City’s strategy to enhance convenience for its residents and promote Wolgot-dong as a prime destination. The city is committed to creating a landmark structure, incorporating unique design elements that reflect the character of the surrounding environment.

Construction is slated to begin in the second half of this year, following the completion of design and administrative procedures in the first half.
