Hanyang University announced on November 6th that it has climbed 19 places to rank 19th in the 2025 QS Asia University Rankings. This marks the university's first entry into the top 20 in the regional rankings.
In the previous year's rankings, Hanyang University had slipped two places. However, the university has made significant strides in improving its academic reputation and research output, leading to a substantial increase in its ranking this year.
QS, a leading global higher education analytics company, evaluates universities based on a variety of factors, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations per paper, and international faculty.
Hanyang University's success can be attributed to its focus on research, particularly in cutting-edge fields such as environmental science, energy, biotechnology, and semiconductors. The university has been actively promoting interdisciplinary research through its specialized research institutes. Since President Lee Ki-jung took office in 2023, Hanyang University has established new research institutes in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and defense, further expanding its research capabilities.
Internationalization has also played a significant role in Hanyang University's success. The university has been actively expanding its global network and attracting international students. Additionally, the university has increased the number of exchange and visiting student programs.
A spokesperson for Hanyang University stated, "Our continued focus on innovation and research excellence is strengthening our global reputation. We are optimistic about the future and believe that Hanyang University will continue to achieve great things on the international stage."
