Kim Ah-young Bids Farewell to 'SNL Korea' After Three Years

Actress Kim Ah-young has announced her departure from the popular comedy series 'SNL Korea' on Coupang Play after a successful three-year run. The actress shared the news with her fans on Instagram, stating that the decision was made after careful consideration and was necessary for her personal growth.
Kim Ah-young joined the 'SNL Korea' crew in November 2022 for the rebooted season 3 and quickly became a fan favorite. Her portrayal of a modern office worker in the 'MZ Office' segment, where she coined the term 'Bright-Eyed Madman', resonated with viewers and showcased her comedic talent.
Reflecting on her time with the show, Kim Ah-young expressed gratitude for the opportunities and experiences she gained. "I am thankful for the three years of freedom and joy. I have been overwhelmed with love and happiness, a feeling I will cherish forever," she wrote on her Instagram post.
The actress will not be returning for the upcoming season 7, scheduled to premiere in April. She highlighted the valuable lessons learned from working on the show, including the chance to explore diverse characters and collaborate with talented colleagues. "I learned so much from this experience, from studying different roles to working with amazing seniors and crew members," she said.
Kim Ah-young also expressed her appreciation for the entire 'SNL Korea' team, from the production staff to the make-up artists. "I am filled with tears when I think of everyone who supported me. I felt so secure on set thanks to their unwavering belief in me," she shared.
Despite the bittersweet feeling of leaving, Kim Ah-young remains optimistic about her future. "The past three years at SNL have been invaluable to me. While I am sad to leave, I see this as an opportunity for further growth. I will continue to pave my own path, step by step," she concluded.
