Asunción, Paraguay - The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced yesterday (March 26th) that it has begun the March salary payments for civil servants in 46 institutions and ministries, including the National Congress, the Office of the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The salary payments this time include civil servants from various ministries such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of 1  Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of 2  Gender Equality and Family. The Ministry of Economy and Finance added that salary payments are processed according to the submission of Funds Transfer Requests (STR) by each institution.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Economy and Finance plans to repay a total of ₲186,558 million (PYG) in treasury debt to creditors today (March 27th).

This debt repayment, mainly funded by Public Credit Resources (Source 20) and institutions' own revenue (Source 30), will be made for all Funds Transfer Requests received by the Directorate General of Treasury (DGTP), under the Ministry of Finance, from March 20th to 24th. Specifically, the payments will include: ▲₲337 million from Source 10 (cash, free higher education support, contingency funds), ▲₲108,613 million from Source 20 (national creditors), and ▲₲77,608 million from Source 30 (institutional creditors).

In addition, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced yesterday that it is accepting applications for treasury debt repayment negotiations from creditors who received final judgments by December 31, 2024.

This measure aims to resolve pending lawsuits and improve fiscal efficiency. Creditors can apply for negotiations from April 14th to May 16th, and the maximum amount that can be paid within the 2025 fiscal year is limited to ₲4 billion. Debt exceeding this limit will be paid in subsequent fiscal years depending on future budget conditions.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance expects that these salary payments and treasury debt repayments will contribute to the financial stability of civil servants and the soundness of national finances. Furthermore, it is anticipated that 추진 the debt repayment negotiations will alleviate long-term fiscal burdens and reduce unnecessary litigation costs.
