Total Project Cost of KRW 5.6 Billion, Carrying Out Water Source Development and Farm Road Maintenance Over 2 Years
Gyeongsangbuk-do has secured KRW 4.5 billion in national funds from the specialized fruit production complex infrastructure creation public contest. Three districts—Og-il District in Yeongcheon and Gido 1 and Dongbyeon Districts in Uiseong—were selected, accounting for 75% of the selected districts nationwide.
This achievement comes as a result of being selected for the "2027 Specialized Fruit Production Complex Infrastructure Creation" public contest hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. The total project cost is KRW 5.6 billion, which will be implemented over a two-year period.
The target areas for the project are concentrated fruit cultivation districts of 30ha or more. The project will establish fruit production and shipping infrastructure by developing water sources such as bedrock wells and pumping stations, expanding and paving access roads and farm roads, and readjusting fruit orchard lands.
The project cost is fully subsidized—80% from national funds and 20% from local government funds—resulting in zero out-of-pocket burden for beneficiary farmers.
Back in March, Gyeongsangbuk-do newly discovered and applied for 5개 (5) districts across 2 cities and counties in the public contest. Cooperating with local governments and the Gyeongbuk Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, the province conducted a preliminary site survey of the applied districts in June. Resident briefing sessions and business consulting were also carried out simultaneously.
Park Chan-guk, Director of the Agriculture, Livestock and Distribution Bureau of Gyeongsangbuk-do, stated, "Securing 3 out of 4 selected districts nationwide in this public contest is a result that once again proves Gyeongsangbuk-do is the backbone of the domestic fruit industry." He added, "Moving forward, we will continuously expand fruit production infrastructure such as water source development and farm road maintenance, and proactively respond to climate change and changing agricultural conditions to ensure we can compete globally."
Meanwhile, from 2005 to 2025, Gyeongsangbuk-do invested KRW 211.9 billion to carry out the specialized fruit production complex infrastructure creation project across 139 districts covering 5,844ha.
