Cho Jung-du captures 1 gold and 1 silver, Shim Jae-hoon secures 2 silvers, and Choi Jae-yoon adds a silver through stellar performances in shooting and fencing.

The Sejong Special Self-Governing City delegation won a total of five medals—one gold and four silvers—at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games.

The Games, held from October 18 to 24 across Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan, brought together approximately 4,000 athletes from 45 countries to compete across 18 sports, including cycling, swimming, archery, shooting, fencing, and judo.

Sejong City proudly sent five athletes to represent South Korea as national team members: four in shooting (Kim Jeong-nam, Yoon Ye-bin, Cho Jung-du, and Choi Jae-yoon) and one in fencing (Shim Jae-hoon).

On October 20, athlete Cho Jung-du claimed the gold medal in the P1 men’s 10m air pistol (SH1) final, setting a new Games record with a score of 241.3.

This victory holds special significance as it marks the first-ever Asian Para Games gold medal won by a South Korean athlete in this event.

Following his gold medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, Cho rose to the summit of Asia, reaffirming his status as one of the world's best shooters.

On October 22, Cho added a silver medal in the P4 mixed 50m pistol (SH1) with a score of 219.7, achieving a double crown at the competition.

On the same day, Shim Jae-hoon teamed up with his fellow athletes to win a silver medal in the mixed épée team event.

Additionally, during the P3 mixed 25m pistol (SH1) final on October 23, Choi Jae-yoon secured the silver medal.

Building on his team gold medal in the P3 mixed 25m event at the 2026 Changwon World Shooting Championships last September, Choi proved his world-class capabilities once again by climbing the podium at this tournament.

On October 24, the final day of the competition, Shim Jae-hoon added a silver medal in the mixed sabre team event, proudly claiming his second medal of the Games.

Mayor Cho Sang-ho (who also serves as the Chairman of the Sejong Paralympic Sports Council) expressed his pride, saying, "I am immensely proud of our athletes who gave their absolute best on the Asian stage. I send my heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the delegation for widely publicizing the strength of Sejong's Paralympic sports across Asia."
