Economic Vice Mayor Park Seong-soo Attends Launch Ceremony on the 30th… Plans to Expand Cooperation Through Sisterhood Affiliation

Sejong Special Self-Governing City (Mayor Cho Sang-ho) attended the launch ceremony of the Republic of Korea Navy's next-generation Aegis destroyer, the ROKS Daeho Kim Jong-seo, held on the 30th at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' Ulsan Shipyard.

The event was attended by Sejong City Economic Vice Mayor Park Seong-soo and Sejong City Council Chairman Ahn Shin-il, who celebrated the successful launch of the ROKS Daeho Kim Jong-seo.

This visit was arranged to continue friendly exchanges, building upon the occasion when the ship's captain and officers visited the Kim Jong-seo Historical Theme Park in Sejong City last July.

The connection is made even more meaningful by the fact that the inaugural captain of the ROKS Daeho Kim Jong-seo, Captain Jang Hyun-do, is a citizen of Sejong City.

Following the establishment of the ship's unit in November, the city and the ROKS Daeho Kim Jong-seo plan to work through working-level consultations to officially establish a sisterhood affiliation, thereby solidifying their friendly cooperative relationship.

Through this, both organizations plan to continue cooperation across various fields, including:

-Joint collection of historical materials
-Mutual participation in major official events
-National security education

Economic Vice Mayor Park Seong-soo stated, "It is deeply meaningful to attend the launch ceremony representing Sejong City through the bond forged via General Kim Jong-seo's patriotic spirit." He added, "By forming a sisterhood affiliation with the ROKS Daeho Kim Jong-seo and promoting the joint collection of historical materials and security education, we will create an exemplary model of cooperation where the local community and the military thrive together."
