Cheonan City Recognized as an Outstanding Institution in Youth Challenge Support Program

Cheonan, South Korea – Cheonan City has been selected as an outstanding institution in the Youth Challenge Support Program, a government-led initiative aimed at providing tailored programs to young people who have lost their motivation to seek employment. In 2023 alone, Cheonan City successfully identified and supported 192 young individuals who had given up on job hunting. This marks the city's fourth consecutive year of recognition, having previously been awarded the top honors in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
The city's innovative approach, which includes National Competency Standards (NCS) training, mock interview practice, and a "homecoming day" event where participants can share their experiences, has been praised for its fresh perspective. By departing from traditional methods, Cheonan City has effectively enhanced the employability of young people.
Looking ahead, Cheonan City has set an ambitious goal of assisting 240 young individuals facing similar challenges in 2024. To achieve this, the city plans to collaborate with various community organizations, such as welfare centers and health clinics, to provide tailored programs for isolated or reclusive youth.
Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don expressed his commitment to supporting young people in finding hope and building brighter futures. "We will actively support our youth so that they can regain hope and design a brighter future," Mayor Park said. "Cheonan City will continue to play a leading role in youth policy."
