SEOUL — Samsung Electronics announced on December 26 that it has launched the "All-in-One AI Integrated Channel" on its free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service, Samsung TV Plus. This new feature allows viewers to enjoy legendary Korean dramas from the early 2000s in stunning high definition, powered by cutting-edge artificial intelligence.
The core of this service lies in Samsung’s generative AI-based upscaling technology. By applying sophisticated algorithms to older content originally filmed in low resolution, the company has successfully restored these classics to near-4K quality. The process involves advanced noise reduction, enhanced color representation, and detail sharpening, enabling younger generations to enjoy their parents' favorite "nostalgic masterpieces" with modern visual clarity.
The initial lineup features iconic hits that defined the early "Hallyu" (Korean Wave) era, including Autumn in My Heart, Successful Story of a Bright Girl, and Damo. Samsung plans to expand the library sequentially with other beloved titles such as Winter Sonata, Rooftop Room Cat, and Tomato.
Beyond visual improvements, the All-in-One AI Integrated Channel offers a suite of AI-driven features:
Audio Remastering: Generative AI separates dialogue from background noise, significantly enhancing the clarity of the actors' voices.
Smart Content Management: The service provides AI-generated plot summaries and "previously on" recaps to help viewers catch up quickly.
"By combining our industry-leading AI technology with timeless content, we are bridging the generational gap in media consumption," a Samsung spokesperson stated. "Families can now sit together and experience the emotional depth of classic dramas without the distractions of poor picture or sound quality."
This move is seen as part of Samsung’s broader strategy to solidify its position in the competitive streaming market by leveraging its hardware-software synergy. As AI continues to redefine the home entertainment experience, Samsung TV Plus is evolving from a simple content provider into a high-tech platform that breathes new life into cultural archives.
