The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 24th that the revised development plan for the 'Songdo Landmark City' project, which will develop the central area of Songdo International City's 6th and 8th districts, has passed the government's review. With the development plan for the 1.28 million square meter site virtually confirmed, construction is expected to begin in 2026.

The 6th and 8th district development project, with a total project cost of approximately 7.6 trillion won, is a large-scale project in which private operator Bluecore PFV will build an urban theme park, an 18-hole public golf course, residential, commercial, and exhibition facilities, centered around a 103-story (420m) super-tall tower near the Songdo Waterfront artificial lake.

The revised development plan includes key elements such as ▲rearrangement of land use plans, ▲connection of east-west transportation networks within the project district, and ▲establishment of pedestrian-centered axes.

First, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to concentrate commercial land within the development plan site at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park Station on Incheon Subway Line 1. The plan is to attract the Korean World Trade Complex, Startup Park 2, and the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry to this location, transforming it into an international business hub.

In addition, the single-block residential and commercial complex site (the site for the 103-story super-tall tower) will be distributed to allow the super-tall tower, commercial facilities, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities to be harmoniously integrated.

The originally planned multi-family housing site on the 6th and 8th district coast will be changed to an amusement park, with plans to create various leisure and tourism infrastructure such as aquariums and musical fountains.

The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority also plans to create a 1.5km 'street mall' connecting Moonlight Festival Park Station to the amusement park and to build two new roads connecting the east and west sides of the development site.

The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to proceed with follow-up administrative procedures such as changes to the implementation plan and land sales contracts.

Yoon Won-seok, head of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, said, "With the government's approval of this revised development plan, the development project for the 6th and 8th districts, which has been a long-cherished desire of citizens, is now on track."
