Gunsan City, South Korea – Gunsan City has unveiled its 2025 subsidy program aimed at increasing the adoption of residential renewable energy sources. The initiative, announced on March 16th, will provide financial support to homeowners installing solar, geothermal, and other renewable energy systems for personal use.
The program, a joint effort between the city and the Korea Energy Agency, will cover a significant portion of the installation costs. For instance, homeowners installing a 3kW solar power system can receive up to 3 million KRW in subsidies, reducing their out-of-pocket expenses to less than 2 million KRW.
Since 2015, Gunsan City has been committed to promoting clean energy solutions for its residents. This latest program underscores the city's ongoing efforts to encourage sustainable energy practices and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
"We are excited to offer this program to our residents," said a city official. "By making renewable energy more affordable, we hope to see more households embrace these clean technologies."
The program is open to owners of existing and newly constructed detached homes in Gunsan City. Applications will be accepted starting March 24th and will continue until the allocated budget is exhausted.
Interested homeowners can apply through the Korea Energy Agency's Green Home website. The city encourages residents to contact the Renewable Energy Division for more information.
This initiative is expected to not only benefit individual homeowners but also contribute to Gunsan City's broader environmental goals.
