Seoul, South Korea – A recent study conducted by Data n Research has revealed that Upbit, operated by Dunamu, is leading the charge in corporate social responsibility (CSR) among major South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges. The platform secured the top spot for its active involvement in various social contribution initiatives during the third quarter of 2023.
The research analyzed over 230,000 posts across 12 different channels, including news outlets, blogs, and social media platforms, to measure the level of social contribution activities undertaken by five major exchanges: Upbit, Bithumb, Gopax, Korbit, and Coinone. The analysis focused on keywords related to social contributions, such as "donation," "volunteer work," and "community service."
Upbit garnered a significant 508 related posts, primarily due to its initiatives like the "Upbit Pizza Day" event, where donations were made to children's welfare facilities for every pizza ordered. Additionally, the platform's partnership with Hamkemandneunse Sang (Social Solidarity Bank) to provide internship opportunities for youth preparing for independence was well-received.
Bithumb followed closely behind with 459 related posts. Notable CSR activities included donating blood platelets to the Korean Blood Marrow Donor Association and launching a "Bitcoin lunchbox" campaign in collaboration with convenience store chain Emart24.
Gopax ranked third with 237 posts, while Korbit and Coinone recorded 48 and 31 posts, respectively.
Despite a overall decrease of 24.93% in social contribution-related posts compared to the same period last year, Upbit's consistent efforts have solidified its position as a leader in the industry.
