Seoul, South Korea – The Ethiopiabet Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering economic and cultural exchanges between South Korea and Ethiopia, recently hosted the Ethiopian Minister of Urban Infrastructure Development. The visit, which took place from November 25th to 30th, marked a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations and express gratitude for Ethiopia's participation in the Korean War, the foundation organized a series of events. The Ethiopian delegation paid tribute at the Korean War Veterans Memorial and visited a commemorative museum.

Subsequently, the Minister and his delegation engaged in a series of meetings with South Korean government officials, local authorities, and business leaders. These included representatives from Chuncheon City, Gangwon Province, Daegu Metropolitan City, the Daegu Water Industry Cluster, and major corporations like Lotte, Samsung, and Daewoo. The discussions focused on potential areas of cooperation, particularly in infrastructure development, smart city initiatives, and technology transfer.

Ethiopiabet has been actively involved in promoting economic development in Ethiopia through various projects, including Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) programs. The foundation is working to establish Ethiopian Standards (ES) based on South Korean Industrial Standards (KS) to facilitate the export of Korean products and boost local industries. Additionally, Ethiopiabet is promoting ODA projects in the gaming, biotechnology, and healthcare sectors to further strengthen bilateral ties.

Ethiopia, strategically located in Africa, offers significant investment opportunities for South Korean businesses. Recognizing this potential, Ethiopiabet is committed to expanding economic cooperation between the two nations.

The visit of the Ethiopian Minister has opened new avenues for cooperation between the two countries. By leveraging ODA and EDCF programs to support infrastructure development in Ethiopia and facilitating the entry of South Korean companies into the Ethiopian market, both nations stand to benefit from enhanced economic ties.
