A 38-year-old mother of two, identified as Lee Geun-sun, has tragically passed away after suffering a brain hemorrhage. However, her selfless act of donating her organs has given new life to six individuals.
Lee, who had undergone successful brain tumor surgery in 2014, was declared brain dead after collapsing at home on November 1st. Despite her sudden passing, her family, who had registered as organ donors in 2006, made the difficult decision to honor her wishes and donate her organs.
Lee's heart, lungs, liver, both kidneys, and corneas were successfully transplanted, giving six people a second chance at life. Her family expressed their hope that Lee's selfless act would bring comfort to others and help them cope with their loss.
"We wanted Lee to continue living on in others," said Lee's husband, Kim Hee-soo. "She was a kind and compassionate person who would have wanted to help others. We hope that her organs will bring joy and happiness to the lives of those who received them."
Lee's daughter, upon learning of her mother's passing, asked, "What if Mom goes to heaven?" Her father replied, "Mom is going to heaven, but she is also doing a great thing by saving other people's lives."
Lee was known for her positive and outgoing personality. She was a talented musician, a classical music composer, and a piano teacher. In her spare time, she enjoyed visiting art galleries and attending performances.
Lee's story is a testament to the power of organ donation and the enduring impact one person can have on the lives of others. Her selfless act has brought hope and healing to many families.
