Chungbuk Province and Eumseong County have announced that they will host the "2026 Global Festival Commemorating World Day" on September 20 (Sunday) at the Geumbitribyeon Park (Geumbitrin Park) area in Geumwang-eup, Eumseong-gun. This event is designed to create a vibrant platform of communication and harmony where foreign residents, multicultural families, and local citizens can come together.

The primary objective of this festival is to bring together residents from diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds. By sharing a single space, participants will have the opportunity to understand and respect different cultures while strengthening their bonds as members of the local community. Approximately 1,000 attendees, including foreign residents, local citizens, and institutional representatives, are expected to participate in the day's events.

The festival will kick off at 10:30 AM with pre-event performances such as gayageum (traditional Korean zither) recitals and spoon Nanta performances to elevate the festive atmosphere. This will be followed by an official opening declaration, congratulatory remarks from distinguished guests, and an awards ceremony. The main program features engaging activities for all residents, including interactive games, family talent shows, and community dancing programs.

Additionally, the venue will host various experiential zones allowing participants to experience global cultures firsthand, featuring national exhibitions, international food tasting booths, and traditional play experiences. Through these interactive spaces, attendees can naturally bridge cultural divides, foster mutual understanding, and communicate more openly with one another.

Song Byeong-mu, the Head of the Foreigner Policy Promotion Division in Chungbuk Province, expressed his hopes that the festival—prepared specifically to drive social integration between foreign and local residents—will serve as a precious opportunity to transcend national and cultural barriers and bring people closer together. He further encouraged local citizens to visit the festival site, experience diverse national cultures directly, and enjoy the event together.

Building on this festival, Chungbuk Province and Eumseong County plan to continuously foster greater public interest and understanding regarding foreign residents within the community. Both local governments remain committed to building an inclusive regional community where domestic and foreign residents respect each other's cultures and live in harmony.
