A picturesque ginkgo tree-lined road in Yanggok-ri, Mungwang-myeon, Goesan County, has become a popular autumn destination for both locals and tourists.
The 250-meter-long avenue, which runs along Mungwang Reservoir, is home to approximately 300 ginkgo trees. When autumn arrives, the trees transform into a stunning golden canopy, creating a breathtaking sight. The vibrant yellow leaves create a tunnel effect, making it a popular spot for photography.
The avenue has also gained popularity as a filming location for various dramas, including "Secret," "When the Camellia Blooms," and "The King: Eternal Monarch," thanks to its unique and picturesque scenery.
The ginkgo trees were planted over 40 years ago by a local resident who donated 300 saplings to the village. With the care and dedication of the villagers, the trees have grown into majestic specimens that now attract thousands of visitors each year.
To further enhance the visitor experience, Goesan County has developed a 3-kilometer ecological trail centered around the ginkgo trees. The village also hosts an annual autumn festival, typically held in the third week of October, to celebrate the beautiful fall foliage.
This year, a local food market will be open until November 17th, offering fresh produce such as apples, pears, corn, and vegetables.
"The ginkgo trees, nurtured with care by our villagers, have become a beloved landmark for our community," said a representative from Mungwang-myeon office. "With the peak of the autumn foliage season, we anticipate a significant increase in visitors."
The ginkgo tree avenue in Yanggok-ri is a testament to the beauty of nature and the power of community. It serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving natural landscapes and fostering a sense of place.
