Petroperú Responds to Oil Spill Near Talara Refinery

Talara, Peru – State-owned oil company Petroperú has confirmed an oil spill on a beach in Piura, approximately 10 kilometers from the Talara Refinery. The company has deployed a response team to clean up the affected area.
According to a press release, the spill was discovered at 9:00 AM on Saturday at Las Capullanas beach in the district of Lobitos, province of Talara.
Petroperú further stated that on Friday, during pre-loading operations for the vessel Polyaigos at the Talara Refinery's submarine terminal, "the presence of hydrocarbons was detected while the submarine line was being moved."
"The situation was immediately controlled, and as a precautionary measure, all operations were suspended to inspect the area near the terminal. Cleanup activities were also initiated," Petroperú reported.
The company assured the public that they are maintaining constant communication with the relevant authorities to provide updates on the situation. Petroperú reiterated its commitment to keeping the public informed about these developments.
