Recognition of Achievements in Green Building and Energy-Saving Policies, Establishing Its Status as a Leader in Carbon Neutrality -
Daejeon City has won the grand prize in the building energy performance category at the "4th Local Government Green Building Assessment" hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Following Gwangju in 2021, Gyeongbuk in 2022, and Ulsan in 2023, Daejeon’s selection this year once again demonstrates that it is leading the nation in promoting advanced green building and energy-saving policies.
The Local Government Green Building Assessment is an annual evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, targeting 17 metropolitan municipalities across the country, with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and establishing a foundation for green building administration at the regional level. It is divided into three evaluation categories: ▲Promotion of Green Buildings, ▲Building Energy Performance, and ▲Policy Implementation, with the top-performing local government in each category receiving an award.
In particular, the building energy performance category is a key area that focuses on evaluating efforts to reduce energy consumption in buildings and expand the adoption of renewable energy, requiring tangible results toward achieving carbon neutrality.
This year, Daejeon City was highly recognized for its achievements in reducing energy consumption per unit area of buildings and expanding the adoption of renewable energy in buildings, earning it the honor of the grand prize.
