JAKARTA – The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation has issued a statement clarifying that it has not received any applications for permits or operational requests from a company claiming to be "Indonesia Airlines." This announcement comes in response to circulating reports regarding the airline's alleged activities.

Lukman F. Laisa, Acting Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation, stated on Sunday, March 23, 2025, "We confirm that up to today, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has not received an application for a Scheduled Commercial Air Transportation Standard Certificate or Aircraft Operator Certificate (AOC) on behalf of Indonesia Airlines."

The ministry found it necessary to provide official clarification due to the widespread dissemination of unverified information. According to Laisa, no administrative documents related to the establishment of scheduled commercial air transport companies or operational flight permits within Indonesian airspace have been submitted by the entity.

The Ministry of Transportation emphasizes that all entities intending to operate scheduled commercial air transportation in Indonesia must comply with the regulations outlined in the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. PM 35/2021 on the Implementation of Air Transportation. This includes submitting administrative documents, demonstrating technical completeness, and fulfilling operational requirements before obtaining a Scheduled Commercial Air Transport Standard Certificate.

Furthermore, airlines are required to possess an Aircraft Operator Certificate (AOC) as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. PM 33/2022 on Civil Aviation Safety Regulations Part 119. Without these two essential certificates, airlines are prohibited from conducting scheduled commercial air transportation activities within Indonesia.

"All these requirements must be met in order to guarantee safety, security and flight service standards for the public," Laisa emphasized.

The Directorate General of Air Transportation is committed to rigorous oversight of airline operations in Indonesia to ensure compliance with national regulations and international aviation safety standards. The ministry urges the public to rely on official sources for information and avoid being misled by unverified reports.
