Taean, South Korea – Taean County has successfully secured a total of 40 billion won in special grants this year, providing a significant boost to various local development projects. This achievement comes as the county continues its efforts to secure government funding for vital initiatives.
Among the most notable projects funded by the grants is the construction of the Manripo Marine Leisure Safety Education Center. Located in Sowon-myeon, the center is slated for completion in 2026 and will feature state-of-the-art facilities including a surfing training center, swimming pool, and a 12-meter-deep diving training facility. This project, with a total investment of 27.6 billion won, aims to transform Manripo into a premier surfing destination on the West Coast.
In addition to the marine center, the county has also received funds for a range of other projects, including:
Disaster safety infrastructure: The installation of emergency warning systems and improvements to road safety measures in Wonbuk-myeon.
Historical preservation: The restoration of Taean Fortress's southeastern wall.
Emergency response: Repairs to Taean Fire Station's retaining wall, which was damaged by heavy rainfall.
"We are thrilled to have secured these special grants, which will allow us to move forward with several critical projects that will benefit our community," said [Name], a local government official. "These funds will help us create a safer, more vibrant, and sustainable Taean."
The county has been actively pursuing government funding to support its development goals. Earlier this year, it received 18 billion won in special grants for projects such as the restoration of Taean Fortress and emergency repairs to the fire station.
With the latest round of funding, Taean County is well-positioned to continue its growth and development. The county plans to leverage these resources to enhance its tourism industry, improve public safety, and preserve its rich cultural heritage.
