BUSAN, South Korea — The Busan Metropolitan Government (Mayor Jeon Jae-soo) announced that it will host the "2026 10th Busan Urban Regeneration Fair" for two days, from October 24 to 25, around Blue Port 2021 and the Bongnae-dong Mulyangjang area in Yeongdo-gu.

First launched in 2017 as the nation's first local government-hosted urban regeneration expo, the "Busan Urban Regeneration Fair" is marking its milestone 10th anniversary this year.

Under the slogan "Maritime Capital Busan, Revitalized Through Urban Regeneration," this year's event is designed as a communication platform to share the city's urban regeneration achievements and discuss its future vision.

The event features a diverse array of programs, including official ceremonies, seminars, competitions, exhibitions, and public participation activities.

Official Events: The opening ceremony will kick off at 2:30 PM on October 24 at Blue Port 2021. It will be followed by the screening of a thematic video highlighting urban regeneration achievements and policy directions, commendations for distinguished contributors, and award ceremonies for various competitions.
Seminars: Mayor Jeon Jae-soo will deliver a special lecture for Busan youth titled "Busan, the Maritime Capital at the Center of the Great Future Transformation." Additionally, various interactive communication sessions will take place, including an urban regeneration seminar titled "Remaining Walls, A Future Being Rewritten" featuring Professor Kang Dong-jin of Kyungsung University, a youth life lecture by YouTuber Kang Jang-gun titled "A Real Estate Story Understanding Busan’s Culture and Spaces," and a creator talk concert.
Competitions: Events will include the "Urban Regeneration Best Practice Presentation Contest" sharing the achievements of urban regeneration village communities, the "Urban Regeneration Youth Hackathon" involving seven universities in the Busan area, and a screening for the "Urban Regeneration Video Contest" created by citizens.
Exhibition & Promotion: The fair will operate the Busan City Policy Pavilion, urban regeneration pavilions from 16 autonomous districts and counties, and the Yeongdo Economy-based Promotion Pavilion. Around 110 booths—including local markets, the Yeongdo M-Market, and food trucks—will also be set up, offering a wide variety of food and entertainment.

Citizen Cultural Events: A variety of programs for citizens to directly participate in and enjoy will be available, including the "Urban Regeneration Field Tour Bus" exploring Yeongdo’s representative landmarks, the traditional game-based "Uratchacha! Urban Regeneration Game," media dubbing experiences, busking performances, coffee cupping (tasting and education) programs, and a stamp tour with the city mascot, Boogie.
Mayor Jeon Jae-soo stated, "Marking its 10th anniversary, we have transitioned this event from a weekday schedule into a weekend festival that citizens can visit at their leisure." He added, "I hope many citizens will visit the venue to walk through the alleys of Yeongdo, explore the markets, enjoy the performances, and have a wonderful time."
