Global icon Jennie of BLACKPINK is collaborating with Stanley, the popular tumbler brand, to release an exclusive new product. Stanley officially announced the collaboration on its social media on September 11th, revealing a glimpse of the special edition Quencher model with the caption, "Ruby, petals, and a global icon. All will be revealed on September 12th."
The sneak-peek video shows a silver surface rotating, from which a raised floral pattern emerges, before zooming out to reveal the classic Quencher tumbler. The design features a black body with intricate raised patterns reminiscent of traditional Korean mother-of-pearl lacquerware (Najeonchilgi). This unique detail gives the tumbler a sophisticated, luxurious, and distinctly Korean feel.
The keywords "ruby" and "petals" are strongly associated with Jennie, who titled her solo debut album 'Ruby.' The floral design is also said to be inspired by the red flowers that appeared in her album. The collaboration tumbler also comes with a special capybara key ring, adding a playful touch.
Jennie has frequently been spotted with various colors of the Stanley Quencher tumbler in broadcasts and concert behind-the-scenes videos, showcasing her personal affection for the brand. This has heightened anticipation for the collaboration, as fans are eager to get their hands on a product co-created by an artist who is a genuine user.
The standard 887ml Quencher tumbler retails for around $35 (approximately ₩48,500) on Stanley's website and ₩49,000 in South Korea. Jennie is known to own the yellow, white, and blue versions of the tumbler.
Stanley announced a major promotional event on September 13th, inviting fans to a special gathering at OBB Studios in Los Angeles, California.
Stanley tumblers gained global fame in November 2023 when a video went viral showing a tumbler with its ice still intact inside a car that had been completely destroyed by fire. This incident sparked a frenzy, particularly among Generation Z, leading to the "tumkku" (tumbler decorating) trend in the U.S.
The demand for these tumblers is immense. Last January, a collaboration with Starbucks for a 1183ml Quencher tumbler caused huge crowds to gather overnight outside stores in the U.S., leading to scuffles. The product, which retailed for $49.95 (around ₩73,000), was later seen being resold on eBay for prices as high as $299.99 (about ₩437,000), with some listings even reaching $550 (approximately ₩804,000). The upcoming Jennie collaboration is expected to create similar, if not greater, excitement.
