YEONGDONG — Yeongdong-gun has officially opened the Chupungnyeong Windmill Center, a state-of-the-art cultural, educational, and community communication space tailored for residents in Chupungnyeong-myeon. Built as a key component of the Chupungnyeong Residential Platform Project, the newly inaugurated center is expected to inject fresh vitality into the local community and bridge the cultural gap for rural residents.

The newly opened facility spans a total floor area of 758.87 square meters with two stories above ground. The project required a total investment of 5.873 billion KRW, which includes 3 billion KRW in national government funding and 2.873 billion KRW from the county budget.

The layout of the center has been meticulously designed to accommodate diverse age groups and community needs. The first floor features a public library, an educational room, a multi-purpose cultural community room, a document archive, and an administrative office. The second floor houses an extension of the public library, study rooms, reading rooms, and a digital playroom, making it an ideal environment for both children and lifelong learners. 

Operating hours are set from Tuesday to Saturday, running continuously from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The center remains closed on Mondays and statutory public holidays. 

A county official stated, "The Chupungnyeong Windmill Center serves as a comfortable sanctuary where any local resident can easily drop by to enjoy reading, continuous learning, and cultural lifestyle activities while fostering genuine communication." The official added, "We will continue to introduce diverse programs to expand cultural access and enrich the vitality of our regional community."

This establishment marks a significant milestone for Yeongdong-gun's rural revitalization efforts, ensuring that residents outside major urban centers gain access to modern public amenities, digital learning spaces, and collaborative community hubs.
