Mariano Roque Alonso, Paraguay – In a shocking incident, a tragic dog attack occurred in Mariano Roque Alonso, Central Department, Paraguay, in the early hours of Thursday, May 22, resulting in the death of one man and serious injuries to another. According to police, three to four Pit Bull type dogs are believed to have attacked passersby.

Horrific Dawn Attack

The incident took place around 3:30 AM on May 22, near Mexico Street and Los Pescadores Street in the San Rafael neighborhood of Mariano Roque Alonso. Police from the Mariano Roque Alonso 26th Central Police Station responded to the scene. The victims were identified as Délis Miguel Toledo Figueredo (40) and Celso Celestino Gayoso Román (56). Tragically, Mr. Celso Celestino Gayoso Román succumbed to his severe injuries.

Police stated that the dogs involved in the attack were three to four Pit Bull type dogs with brown fur. The presumed owner of these dogs is Mr. Osmar Alcaraz Delvalle.

Urgent Transport of Victims

Police initially responded to a report of "injuries due to a dog bite" and immediately rushed to Mr. Délis Toledo's residence. Mr. Toledo stated he had been attacked by dogs on the street and had clear injuries on his legs and arms, but he was conscious. The responding officers immediately transported him to the Mariano Roque Alonso District Hospital.

Later, police received another call to the same location. Upon arrival, they witnessed a horrific scene: Pit Bull dogs were attacking Mr. Celso Gayoso. Police promptly drove the dogs away and rendered aid to the victim. Mr. Gayoso was unconscious with deep wounds all over his body, and he was also urgently transported to the Mariano Roque Alonso District Hospital.

Both victims were subsequently transferred to the Tropical Medicine Institute (Lacimet), but regrettably, the death of Mr. Celso Celestino Gayoso Román was officially confirmed.

Investigation Launched and Societal Impact
The incident has been reported to Prosecutor Cynthia Torres of Criminal Unit No. 1, and the prosecutor's office has immediately launched an investigation to thoroughly examine the circumstances of the incident and ascertain the responsibility of the dog owner.
