The Cheonan Agricultural Technology Center announced on the 2nd that the smart farm startup efforts of young farmers have yielded their first fruits.
CEO Kim Hye-jin, a trainee of the 1st cohort of the Young Farmer Smart Farm Academy, has laid the groundwork as a farmer by establishing the smart farm "Mo-chorok" in Seonghwan-eup, Cheonan-si.
Since last year, CEO Kim has built up expertise in cultivation technology, facility operation, and farm management through the leased greenhouse run by the center's Smart Farm Academy. Through the smart farm greenhouse expansion and dissemination project, she has established a 2,600-square-meter greenhouse with a total project cost of 700 million won.
Moving forward, she plans to cultivate cucumbers, herbs, and chives, while expanding her business scope into the 6th-tier industry combining rural experiences and agricultural processing.
Lee Hee-myung, a rural guidance officer, stated, "This case is highly significant in that smart farm education and management practice directly led to actual startups for young farmers. We will continue to support stable farming policies and successful startups for young farmers by linking education, practice, and facility distribution."
