Gyeongju World is a historic amusement park that first opened in 1985, making it the second oldest in South Korea. Originally named Dootoorak World, it was rebranded as Gyeongju World in 1992. The park consists of two main areas: Gyeongju World Amusement, the main theme park, and California Beach, a water park.
Gyeongju World Amusement: Home of the Thrills
The park's signature themed area is Draken Valley, which features the popular dive coaster, Draken. Designed by the renowned roller coaster company B&M, Draken was the first ride in Korea to feature a 90-degree vertical drop. The Draken Valley zone is inspired by Norse mythology and offers an adventurous, immersive experience. It's composed of five "treasures":
Snowpark: The Treasure of Water
Krak: The Treasure of Fire
Dragon Race: The Treasure of Wind
Fenrir's Rock: The Treasure of Earth
Draken: The Treasure of Love
Another popular area is the X-Zone, which is packed with thrilling rides. Highlights include the Mega Drop, which sends riders plummeting from a height of 70 meters, and Phaethon, an inverted roller coaster.
California Beach: A Water Park Getaway
California Beach, which opened in 2008, is Gyeongju World's water park. It features a versatile wave pool that can create both powerful, high-pressure waves and gentle, low-pressure ones. The park also boasts a variety of large-scale slides and a "Splash Zone" for families to enjoy.
During the winter, Gyeongju World transforms into a Snowpark. Visitors can enjoy Korea's longest sledding slope, which spans 250 meters, and choose from ski sleds, regular sleds, and children's sleds.
