SEOUL – NCSoft, a leading South Korean game developer and publisher, announced on Wednesday the launch of its "NC Family Zone PC Cafe Festival." This year-end promotion, which kicked off on December 24, is set to run through January 14, 2026, offering a wide array of rewards for users visiting affiliated PC cafes (PC Bangs) across the country.
The festival is designed to integrate NCSoft’s diverse portfolio, ranging from its flagship MMORPGs to classic titles available on its integrated gaming platform, PURPLE. By participating in the event, users can accumulate playtime or viewing hours to enter prize draws for exclusive merchandise and digital rewards.
A Broad Spectrum of Content
During the event period, players can engage with a vast selection of NCSoft’s intellectual properties (IPs). The lineup includes the company’s core MMORPG titles such as Lineage, Lineage 2, Aion, Lineage M, Lineage 2M, Throne and Liberty (TL), BNS NEO, and the highly anticipated Aion 2.
Beyond modern RPGs, the festival also highlights NCSoft’s strategic expansion into "New Classic" gaming via PURPLE. Users can play nostalgic RPG titles like Astonishia Story and Hwanse Chwihonjeon Plus (Genso Suikoden Plus). In a move to broaden the cultural reach of the festival, NCSoft has also included its animation OTT service, Laftel, allowing users to participate by simply watching their favorite anime series at the PC cafe.
Exclusive Rewards for Fans
The promotion features a curated selection of prizes aimed at both gamers and collectors. Winners selected through the draw will receive:
Exclusive Editions: A PURPLE limited edition of Astonishia Story.
Digital Incentives: Discount coupons for Astonishia Story and Hwanse Chwihonjeon Plus.
Physical Merchandise: Full manga sets of legendary titles such as YuYu Hakusho and Slam Dunk.
Strategic Engagement
Industry analysts view this festival as a strategic move by NCSoft to strengthen its ecosystem. By linking its legacy MMORPGs with newer classic titles and its OTT platform, NCSoft is fostering a "Family Zone" environment that appeals to multiple generations of users.
"This festival is not just about playing games; it's about providing a comprehensive entertainment experience," said an industry insider. "By rewarding users for their time spent across different media—from hardcore gaming to watching anime—NCSoft is successfully increasing the stickiness of its PURPLE platform."
The event concludes in mid-January, marking a significant push by the company to maintain its market dominance in the domestic PC cafe scene during the winter peak season.
