- Understanding the impact of the climate crisis on our daily lives and the province's response policies at a glance
- Completing the carbon neutrality "Resolution to Understand" series following collection of contribution articles and a glossary

Chungcheongbuk-do has published "ADAPT," a policy commentary book designed to help residents easily understand the 4th Chungcheongbuk-do Climate Crisis Adaptation Measures. With the publication of this commentary book, the province has completed its carbon neutrality "Resolution to Understand" book series, which consists of a collection of contribution articles, a glossary, and a policy commentary book.

"Climate crisis adaptation" refers to preparing to reduce damage caused by climate change—such as heatwaves, heavy rainfall, and droughts—and to live safely even in a changed environment. Protecting the elderly from extreme heat and reducing risks around daily life in preparation for heavy rains are examples of this.

This commentary book was prepared to explain professional terminology and data-centric policies at the eye level of residents. It clearly and easily outlines why the 4th Adaptation Measures are necessary and how major policies protect the health and daily lives of residents.

The book title "ADAPT" is both the English word meaning to adjust and an acronym combining the first letters of five strategies containing Chungbuk's climate crisis response direction:

Anticipate climate risks in advance,
Design measures tailored to regional conditions,
Act before damage escalates,
Protect vulnerable neighbors and the daily lives of residents facing the climate crisis, and
Transformation toward a society that withstands crises and recovers quickly even when damage occurs.

This aligns with the 9th popular-elected provincial government's administrative goal, "Great Transformation of Chungbuk! Livelihood-Pragmatic Chungbuk," in that it pursues a safe and resilient Chungbuk through practical climate crisis responses that protect residents' lives.

The commentary book connects these five strategies to eight sectors, including water, forestry, land, and agriculture. It enables residents to understand climate risks related to their own lives and explore the province's policies preparing for them.

The production was handled directly by the province's Climate and Air Environment Division without external outsourcing. Based on the experience and knowledge accumulated while handling policies, the content was written to share the expertise of the administrative field with residents.

The carbon neutrality "Resolution to Understand" series is significant in connecting interest in the climate crisis to understanding, and understanding to empathy for policies in daily life. The collection of contribution articles sparks interest in the climate crisis through everyday stories, the glossary easily explains unfamiliar concepts, and this policy commentary book demonstrates concrete response measures to protect residents' lives.

Jang Ki-bong, Director of the Environment and Forestry Bureau of the province, stated, "We hope this commentary book helps residents understand the climate crisis and feel the province's policies close to their daily lives. We will continue to make policies easily accessible at the eye level of our residents."

Meanwhile, the policy commentary book "ADAPT," along with the collection of contribution articles and the glossary, can be viewed as an electronic file (PDF) on the Chungcheongbuk-do Provincial Office website under the "Sectoral Information → Environment" bulletin board.
