Seoul, South Korea - LG Display continues to solidify its position as a leader in the premium display market with its OLED panels, which have been increasingly recognized for their human-centric features.

Recent studies have shown that LG's OLED panels significantly contribute to better sleep quality and eye health. A joint research conducted by LG Display and the Department of Electronic Engineering at Kukmin University revealed that individuals who watched OLED TVs for two hours before bedtime experienced a significant increase in melatonin levels, a hormone that regulates sleep. In contrast, those who watched mini LED TVs experienced a decrease in melatonin levels.

"Our findings indicate that OLED TVs promote relaxation and contribute to healthier sleep patterns," said Professor Chang-wook Kim of Kukmin University, who led the clinical trial.

OLED panels emit less harmful blue light compared to traditional LCD panels. While LCD panels typically emit 70-80% blue light, LG's OLED panels, with their self-emissive structure, emit only 36%. This reduction in blue light helps to maintain normal sleep patterns.

In addition to reducing blue light emissions, LG Display's OLED panels are flicker-free, making them more comfortable to watch for extended periods. The company has received various certifications from global organizations such as Eyesafe, TÜV Rheinland, UL Solutions, and Intertek, attesting to the eye safety of its OLED panels.

LG Display has also made significant strides in sustainability by reducing the use of harmful substances in its OLED panels. By eliminating the need for a backlight and reducing the use of plastic components, LG has achieved a 90% reduction in plastic usage compared to LCD panels. This commitment to sustainability has earned LG Display's OLED panels an eco-friendly product certification from SGS.

The growing popularity of OLED panels is reflected in the global market. According to Omdia, OLED panels accounted for 60.3% of the premium TV market (over $1,500) in North America and Europe during the first half of this year, marking a record high.
