Review of facility-specific management status and countermeasures in preparation for large wildfires

Cheonan City has entered a state of intensive preparedness for vulnerable facilities adjacent to forests following the recent issuance of a nationwide 'Serious' alert for the national wildfire disaster crisis.

On April 2nd, the city held a meeting presided over by Deputy Mayor Kim Seok-pil to discuss management measures for vulnerable facilities adjacent to forests.

The meeting was attended by heads of relevant departments including the Safety Management Division, Forest Recreation Division, Tourism Division, Seobuk-gu and Dongnam-gu Public Health Centers, Corporate Support Division, Culture and Arts Division, Senior Welfare Division, Agricultural Policy Division, Childcare Division, and Disability Welfare Division. They reviewed management measures for vulnerable facilities and discussed on-site management plans to minimize damage.

The city reviewed the management status and countermeasures for each facility in preparation for large wildfires, targeting facilities adjacent to forests such as nursing hospitals, nursing homes, campgrounds, cultural heritage sites, and accommodations, where significant damage could occur in the event of a large wildfire.

In addition, the city strengthened its preparedness for rapid evacuation and initial response by focusing on inspecting the establishment of an emergency contact system and evacuation plans in the event of a large wildfire.

Deputy Mayor Kim Seok-pil stated, "Wildfires can quickly escalate into major disasters, making it urgent to establish measures to protect vulnerable groups. As the safety of citizens is our top priority, we will do our utmost to ensure thorough wildfire response."

Meanwhile, Cheonan City has canceled the 'Visit Cheonan Year' declaration ceremony, which was scheduled for April 4th, in consideration of the wildfire disaster crisis situation.
