Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae (29) has requested rest due to a persistent injury. 1
German media outlet 'Get Football News' reported on the 22nd (Korean time) that "Kim Min-jae has been playing with pain for more than half of the season. Eventually, he asked to be excluded from the starting lineup for a while until he fully recovers."
Kim Min-jae suffered an Achilles tendon injury in the game against Frankfurt last October, but has continued to play as a starter since then.
The media explained, "It is not surprising that the injury affected Kim Min-jae's performance, but he continued to play despite the pain."
This was not an easy schedule for Kim Min-jae, who is called 'Iron Man'. Despite the injury, Kim Min-jae played 2817 minutes in 33 of the 35 official matches played by the team this season, missing only two games.
The media welcomed Kim Min-jae's rest, saying, "It is questionable why coach Vincent Kompany continued to send out Kim Min-jae, who was having difficulties."
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich is expected to utilize Eric Dier or Ito Hiroki as center backs instead of Kim Min-jae.
Bayern Munich will play a home game against Eintracht Frankfurt at 1:30 am on the 24th.
