SANTIAGO, Chile — The Chilean government will once again disburse the 'Bono Logro Escolar' (Academic Achievement Bonus) in 2025, a subsidy for high-achieving students from low-income families. The purpose is to provide financial support to students with high academic performance and ease the educational burden on economically vulnerable households. This bonus is provided to students from families in the lowest 30% of income who rank within the top 30% in academic performance. There is no separate application process; the government selects recipients directly through its internal data systems and makes the payments.

Key Details and Eligibility Criteria 

The Academic Achievement Bonus is part of the 'Ingreso Ético Familiar (IEF)' (Ethical Family Income) program, operated in collaboration between the Chilean Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Education. The recipients must meet the following criteria:

Age: Students under 24 years of age.
Grade Level: Students enrolled from the 5th grade of primary school to the 4th grade of high school.
Academic Performance: Ranked within the top 30% of their class or grade based on academic results from the previous school year.
Income Level: Must be a member of a household registered in the Chilean Household Social Registry (RSH) that falls within the lowest 30% of income as of March 31, 2024.
The payment amount is divided into two tiers based on the student's academic performance:

Group 1 (Top 15%): A payment of 82,181 pesos (approx. $120 USD).
Group 2 (Top 15% to 30%): A payment of 49,310 pesos (approx. $75 USD).
For example, if a family has two children in Group 1 and one in Group 2, the family will receive a total of 213,672 pesos. This subsidy, distributed before Chile's major national holiday, Fiestas Patrias, is expected to help ease household expenses.

Payment Schedule and Method 

The bonus will be paid on September 12, 2025. Recipients will receive the funds directly into their 'CuentaRUT' accounts at BancoEstado, Chile's state-owned bank. Recipients without a CuentaRUT account must activate it by visiting the bank with their national ID card (Cédula de Identidad). The list of beneficiaries can be checked on the Ministry of Social Development's website using their RUT (national identification number) or Clave Única (Unique Password).

This support is seen as part of the Chilean government's ongoing efforts to expand educational opportunities for vulnerable groups and to motivate students academically.
