Paraguayan Foreign Minister Discusses First Three Months' Evaluation and Future Foreign Policy Directions

Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano recently met with Deputy Ministers and key collaborators to evaluate the first three months of his tenure and discuss future foreign policy directions.
During the meeting, Minister Ramírez Lezcano reaffirmed the government's foreign policy stance and mentioned additional elements to be added to external relations, considering the rapidly changing international situation and new challenges. He emphasized that the core of foreign policy is based on democratic values and principles, respect for human rights, and institutional strengthening.
He also stressed the need to strengthen foreign services as Paraguay's standing in the international community has increased in recent months. He emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be prepared to adequately respond to the demands of a highly interconnected world, urging all staff to do their best in their respective roles.
Minister Ramírez Lezcano stated that he aims to improve the capabilities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and each staff member daily.
Paraguay's Recent Diplomatic Activities:
Paraguay has recently maintained close relations with Taiwan and strengthened economic cooperation with South American countries.
As a member of Mercosur (Southern Common Market), it is actively participating in regional economic integration.
It recently signed an economic cooperation agreement with South Korea and secured support for the 2030 Busan Expo.
Future Foreign Policy Directions:
Minister Ramírez Lezcano reportedly discussed new foreign policy challenges, including strengthening digital diplomacy, responding to climate change, and international health cooperation.
The Paraguayan government plans to reflect these new challenges in its foreign policy to further expand its role in the international community.
