Jeju Agricultural Technology Center (Director Koh Sang-hwan) announced on the 10th that it will supply 7 tons of hydroponic seed potatoes for spring crops in 2025 to potato farmers in the province.
The Agricultural Technology Center held a meeting on the 3rd at the Agricultural Products Seedling Center conference room with 23 people, including representatives from the Jeju Agricultural Cooperative Joint Business Corporation, local agricultural cooperatives, the Jeju Environment-Friendly United Producers Association, and the Agricultural Technology Center, to discuss the supply of hydroponic seed potatoes for spring crops in 2025.
The meeting discussed four agenda items: ▷ Supply schedule and quantity of hydroponic seed potatoes ▷ Supply price ▷ Improvement plan for allocation method of supply quantity by variety ▷ Operation of 'Tamna' variety seed potato field by Potato Public Interest Group ▷ Plan to expand supply of 'Tamna' variety.
This year's supply volume is about 7 tons (3.8 tons of Tamna, 3.2 tons of Daeji), which will be supplied through local agricultural cooperatives.
In order to efficiently distribute seed potatoes and resolve the shortage of supply, the allocation method by variety will be improved, and improvements will be made to the shortage of seed potato supply, such as discussing the operation of the 'Tamna' variety seed potato field by the Potato Public Interest Group, and will be reflected in the supply.
The supply ratio of 'Tamna' potatoes, a variety developed by the Agricultural Technology Center, will be increased from the existing 60% to 65%, and publicity will be strengthened so that potato farmers can use hydroponic seed potatoes for propagation and use.
Kim Kyung-pyo, an agricultural researcher, said, "I hope that hydroponic seed potatoes supplied from the Seedling Center will be self-propagated and used 2 to 3 times," and added, "We will continue to do our best to supply high-quality seed potatoes."
